What if life was a musical?

On Friday, May 29th 2009, I went to Red Deer to see Ignition Theatre's "Edges". I went because I know many of the people involved in the show. I was glad I came up to watch the show and for my friends in Calgary, you should start exploring shows north of you. I think you guys should also check out this song: Be My Friend. It was very well done and these photos are of that particular number. Photos taken by Patrick Beagan

Class of '09

Yes, I finally took the pictures off of my camera! Let's calculate numbers: Over 1800 students graduated from Red Deer College this year. About 400 students registered to convocate. Only 2 actors and 4 technicians went to walk the stage. They called us up by program. So of course we're probably about the 3rd from last program to be called (Theatre Acting and Technical Production). The convocation took 3 and 1/2 hours when it was supposed to take only 2 and 1/2. Really now? My high school graduating class consisted of 486 students and we were done within 2 hours! Ugh whatever, as long as my mother does not force me walk the stage again I'll be fine. Ladies...we did it!

Lilac Festival

This past Sunday was the Lilac Festival. In my opinion, one of the greatest street festivals Calgary has to offer. It was around 10 blocks of food vendors, jewelery, clothing, and the most random things you'd never thought people would sell. It reminded me of the night market in Richmond, BC (for those of you who have never been, it's a big tourist attraction sort of like a flea market that has grown bigger and bigger every year. you'll never see more asians in your life!). It was great to see how many restaurants and different cultures who participated. The weather was perfect: 20 degrees with a slight wind. There were times when I was walking in the shade and was actually cold! What I liked the most was the culture. Calgary isn't known for it's culture. We're known for the Flames and the Stampede. Having this festival educated Calgarians on the many different cultures of the world and it was awesome to see people enjoying it! I think the best part of the day for me was getting henna done. I've always wanted henna and we passed by many tents until I found one that was reasonably priced ($5 - $20) and who added sparkles for free! The sparkles only last until you peel off the paste but it still adds a nice touch for at least 4 hours! =)
