2009 Productions

As all of you know, I'm in love with theatre and one of my favourite things to do is to go and watch shows. I probably have all the ticket stubs from the shows I watched this past year as well. Here's my list of what I saw in 2009 in order.
  1. Annie
  2. Some Girls
  3. Hamlet
  4. Edges
  5. El dorado
  6. Lion King
  7. Bonjour la Bonjour
  8. A Chorus Line
  9. Suburbia
And I'll be adding Beauty and the Beast onto that list when I go and see it next Thursday!

My apologies

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I've been extremely busy with exams and group assignments coming out the wazoo. Plus I took a couple shop/LX calls a couple weeks ago to help with Beauty and the Beast. I definitely forgot how exhausting a shop call can be but I still really miss it. Theatre is my thing and not being a part of it makes me sad. I miss the rush of a live show, the problem solving over head set, fooling around on head set while Nancy isn't listening, the "so-and-so off com" when I gave the go ahead to get off of head set, the atmosphere that comes when we're all in standby and the show is about to start, etc. Just everything about it I miss. Why can't the theatre program be a four year/degree program?!

SPOILER: I'm being a negative nancy

I've been reading your blog all summer and it has always interested me because of your fashion taste and your writing. I love your writing...or at least I used to. I used to be intrigued by you and now all I see is a self-righteous, materialistic vegetarian who doesn't really understand vegetarianism. I know what your beliefs are and I respect you for trying to be a vegan and make a difference in the world but you're barely doing it.

  • You constantly go to Starbucks and you said you bought a mug so you could bring it to the store and not have to use a paper cup. That's a good idea but did you not own a mug beforehand? Why couldn't you have used that one?
  • You hate littering and that's why there's a bunch of waterbottles in your car. Do you actually know how much energy it takes to make one of those plastic bottles?!
  • You love driving your car everywhere and yet you're trying to be an environmentalist? There's something called public transportation/riding a bike/walking.
  • You buy a lot of clothing/accessories but do you even consider where they were made? If you're trying to make a difference in the world, stop supporting the child labour and actually spend the money for things that are made in Canada/check out modcloth or etsy, a lot of their stuff are hand made.
  • You adore Matt & Nat because of their beliefs and their "vegan" leather, but have you ever stopped to think that their "vegan" leather is vinyl? Which really is PLASTIC! Cause really, we need more plastic in the world.

I admire you for the things you already do to help the world but you're basically a walking contradiction to me.

What keeps you going?

I know Thanksgiving was a few weeks ago but this week I've really thought about why I'm still here and who I'm thankful for. So here's my list:
  • Family: of course family is first. Where would I be without them? Definitely not in Red Deer. And what mother would buys season tickets at the Jubilee just because you adore theatre? Mine does. Oh and ps. we definitely have the best seats in the house!
  • Calgary friends: I don't have as many as I used to but the ones who I do still talk to are awesome. Dave and I promised we'd be friends after high school and three years later, we're still remembering our inside jokes from grade eleven.
  • Red Deer friends: they rock my world, even if some drive me crazy sometimes, I love them to death. Who else leaves alcohol/mix in my fridge to only forget about it so my house has free alcohol and I can give it to Tim? He's been my silver lining throughout this school year and for that I couldn't be more grateful.
So they're the reason why I get out of bed and go on with my day and I couldn't be more thankful to have these people in my life.
